Insurance company, when signing for new policy:

"how many cylinders does it have?"

me: "it doesn't have any, it's a twin rotor engine."

IC rep: "....um..."

me: "screw it, just put down 6."

idiot!!....shoulda said it was an electric-gas hybrid......according to insurance companies a sports car with more cyl = more power = more money for insurance costs

or could have said it was a 3 cylinder.

ive gotten the, "u can rev to forever, redline, 12k..." a lotta times. it just sucks that so many ppl believe what everyday magazines tell them, cause ive gotten the "that engine sucks cause it has to be rebuild every 60 to 80k miles."

My favorite:

When I'm at a gas station and a guy says, thats a small motor, how many cylinders?

Me: Whats a cylinder?

Guy: You know, pistons?

Me: What the hells a piston?

Guy: Nevermind.

Heh...I love doing that to people.

Nice, a dose of their own medicine.

When insurance etc asks you how many pistons it has, just tell them four (because it it's got four spark plugs). Yeah, don't tell them six.

When someone says it's a two stroke, first of all, that person is obviously confused and/or doesn't know what he's talking about, and second, you could confuse him even more by saying it mimics all four strokes of a conventional four stroke engine, but the catch is there are three rotor faces per rotor, and each one is geared 3:1. So if anything, it's closer to a three stroke. This is really cool to do to those people that tell you a rotary makes power like a two stroke because it has power every time it's at TDC, or whatever the argument is. Next, you could ask them how many strokes a three rotor engine has, since there are three rotors in it. I guess with that logic, a one rotor engine would be a one stroke? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

In 1986, did Mazda have a gas-electric hybrid on the market?

And I'm not going to lie, because with my luck, they'll find out (it wouldn't take much research to figure that one out).

GEICO dropped my motorcycle policy, just because I parked in a carport rather than a garage, despite the fact that it's walled on 2 sides, and not visible from the street. I'm not going to make another dumbass mistake that would cause me to have to change insurance again.

Jeff20B 10-13-2003 02:19 PM

Or better yet, when someone tells you a rotary is a two stroke, tell that person a rotary actually has these four positions: suck, squeeze, bang, blow. So, yeah, there's only two there, alright. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif

Jeff20B 10-13-2003 02:20 PM

GEICO? I'd reather use guide-coat.
