I remember back when we were in High school we went to a local starbucks. While we were there a new truck pulled up .. Lifted, chrome wheels big tires, and then to my surprised, the police department stickers on the side.. As i looked more at the truck I noticed a sticker on the back side window that said, "This vehicle was siezed from a drug Dealer"

Youre forgetting about the millions upon millions of "seized drug funds" that partially fund police depts, especially those along major interstates. The city I live in is right on I95, and the local cops regularly get bust drug runners. So much so that every car in the dept was paid for with those seized drug funds. We also have an excessively large police force given the population, and general lack of crime.
Yer forgetting the millions of dollars it costs to house the weed offenders. Those dollars could be diverted to pay for police force, not to mention you would need less officers if you weren't having them chase down dime bag offenders.

im sure the money seized does not zero out the money spent, between the jails, the border patrols, court system- its alot of money.
We spend WAY WAY WAY more on the process then we seize, the figures aren't even close to zeroing out.

I agree. But there is a question of how the funds are used. Taxpayer money comes with a budget, but you always see the seized funds going to new cars, new guns, etc etc. They dont have to justify a need like they would to get that in the budget.
Besides, the drug war is job security for a whole lot of people. Everyone knows they cant win, and more importantly, they wouldnt want to because they would be out of a job.

in honor of Lincoln's Birthday

man the court paperwork for a single smalltime weed bust probably kills like a rainforest or something.
seriously, legalized weed controlled identically to alcohol would work fine. seriously half the people you see a day are probably baked anyway and you still dont notice.
kevin.
