whats up guys n' gals? im getting ready to build myself another pc...my gateway right now just isn't working it for me...the 450mhz is kinda starting to get on my nerves...

Im prob. gonna go with the AMD 1.7, I want to buy a motherboard/cpu combo and was curious is anyone has any good online stores they've bought from. Im looking at TigerDirect.com, and I've heard good stuff about them. Any others?

Planning on running the Shuttle AK32L Socket A Motherboard with AMD Athlon XP 1700+, one of there cases w/a 350 watt power supply.

I'm lookin at about 155 bucks for the board and cpu and the case. Sound about right?

www.monarchcomputer.com

Had no trouble and they have great prices. Although when a friend of mine ordered from them he found the plastic chipped off a PCI slot.

I got an Abit KG7-RAID with XP1800 and a nice case.

I wish I hadnt gotten the case now because a company like a mile away from me makes SWEET customized aluminum cases for ultra cheap!

check out www.frozencpu.com, theyve got all kinds of crazy computer stuff!

monarch is good although they took forever to ship the last order I placed with them. I have been buying from http://www.newegg.com they have great order process, shoot youa tracking number, usually ship the same day and their prices are great. I've got an AMD XP 1800 and a 2000 system right now, I swaer by the MSI MB's and would definetely recommend staying away from the Asus boards, they have been anything but impressive on the last few releases.

i'm sure there are a kagillion companies/websites out there who sell **** like that. I've only dealt with tigerdirect, and i was very pleased with them.

are you looking at a barebones kit? (case, motherboard, power supply)?

i'm sure you'd be happy with a 1.7. i wouldn't worry about getting much higher than that cause i doubt it's that noticeable. what is the computer going to be mainly used for?
