I am applying for a Mortgage to buy a new office. I also own my own business which make laon officers nervous. She needs to see my last 2 years personal tax returns as well as my corporate tax returns.



When I asked why. She said she has to make sure my business turns a profit.



I said of course it does. And asked how could I have a business if it never turned a profit. (Damn am I naieve) She told me 90% of small business owners bury their profit and show losses so they dont have to pay taxes. This, of course, bites them in the *** when they go to build/buy their dream home. They are driving H-2's and Mercedes and want to buy a 750K home but their business has never turned a profit.



I pay more in taxes each year than most of you probably make because I have always felt it was the right thing to do. I am a member of some Small Business Association and get monthly magazines with tips on how to aviod taxes etc.. This same organization urged me to vote for Bush this past election and was celebrating that he won.



So how can some dude fly a flag and call himself a patriot when he is ducking out of paying any taxes?? Some of these people are ducking out of 10's of thousands a year over many years is a lot of money.

Bill gates is in 45% tax bracket because socialist believe his hard work and ideas should be penalized for success and acheivement.

He pays bazzillions personally more than we do.. so is he more patriotic because we ,yourself and me make less?(dont forget all the people in the world employed by MicroSoft)

but wait..I have lossed $65,000 dollars last year and have not drawn a paycheck yet, but like him I pay corporate taxes and my employees pay taxes.So no one helps me out of my losses. I may use the losses, which helped all my employees have jobs and insurance and pay taxes , against any postive growth in the next three years. I am gambling my house,everything.So is that less Patriotic?

Millionaires make business possible, employ people who then add to the tax base.

They deserve not be penalized because they are successful and its in their best intrest to see growth. I want millionaires to put monies in stocks.....maybe I can have a company that goes public and they buy stock I in turn hire more people and contract out more work and they hire more..... all pay taxes which grew from the millionaire' investment. the governemnt doesnt create real jobs for the economy through taxes.

Hey...we should pay even taxes (% wise) I dont want to carry someone load too because of their life choices of occupation or lifestyle.... my taxed $.02

Agreed, again my point is people who are SUCCESSFUL makes lots of money and HIDE it from the government. I am not guaging someone patriotism based on how much taxes they pay. No, I am guaging someones patriotism on how much they lie to the IRS so they can get away with NOT paying taxes then it comes back to bite them in the *** when they try to attain conventional financing and their lies show their business in the RED for years on end when in truth they are raking it in.



Doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure it out when they are driving 50K cars and take weeklong vacations every month to exotic places yet are in the RED when the IRS comes a knocking.



I too have taken chances and have been bankrupt trying to get my business off the ground. But I NEVER considered cheating the government out of what I owe them.

I concur. Tell the guys they are hypocrits, they talk big game and say the support the US but when it comes down to what actually drives the government ie taxes they aren't doing their part. This is the sort of thing that scares me, that people like this hold high positions. Hell look how many shady businesses there are in our community.

my dad was telling my about new zealand. i guess the govt decided they were gong to redo the tax structure to better serve the people. they decided on a flatish income tax, and a sales tax. the percetanges are less but the tax revenue went up because people stopped cheating on the taxes. http://www.malcolmpacific.co.nz/taxes.html



so they did 3 things.



1. they simplified the tax code

2. they are taxing the people at a lesser percentage

3. they actually are bringing in more money in total and as a percentage



the sad part is that it will never happen here because our govt has no interest in serving the people it claims to represent
