So, I'm trying to resist being dragged, kicking and screaming, into the twenty-first century. Does anyone have any informed opinions about MS IE7? Will it drag down my speedy XP Pro installation?

I use firefox, so I'm more concerned about adverse effects of installing the typical MS bloatware. My current system is an Athlon 3500 running 2.2 GHz, with 1GB RAM.

Your system specs are fine to run IE7 if you want. I have a much slower computer than yours and finally just recently updated to it. I like it a lot more than IE6 because of the tabbing of websites and the fact that I only have to log on to my work site once no matter how many tabs of it I open.

After switching you will be pestered to do more updates immediately, but all is good after that...

Its better then ie6, they finally added tabbed browsing, I use opera for the most part... can't stand firefox, but that's cause it doesn't work very well.
