Right before I order i wanna double check that its ok to slap 255 wide tires on a 7 inch rim. this is for the drag radials i'm getting.

thanks.

I think that might be a tad too wide for 7's. If memory serves me correct, I ran 245's on my stock 8" FD wheels, and they were about all it could take.

Maybe try something like 235?

15? 16? 17? 18?, the diameter plays a role as well as the tire, some drag radials can be up to 255 and still go nicely on the stock fd rim. I have 245 on my stock rims and yes for street tires the sidewalls wont let ya get bigger than that at 16" x 8"

edit: but i do think that 7" will be to small for 255

16x7's

The tires are 255/50/16

The problem is its the only drag radial I can find that will fit a 16 inch rim and they happen to be 255's.

Though, on that same note my friends with muscle cars manage to stick 285's on rims taht arent much wider than mine.

it is all in the side walls

drag radials have a softer sidewall which does allow them to go on a smaller rim

for a definite answer I would contact the manufacturer of that particular tire, there may even be a chart online of size ranges, bridgestone does that I believe.
