I don't think anyone understood what I was saying with the exception of 89. I wasn't using as a tool to prepare for the power of the FD. I was using it as a tool to introduce myself to the rotary world with a "less expensive to maintain" 8. I was brand new to the engine and any sort of experience had behind the wheel of a rotary car. I wanted to feel if they had what I was looking for in a car. See if I liked the engine and could conform to its little nuances. I wanted to do all of this without having to worry about vacuum hoses popping off and overheating. OK?

I am not taking an elitist position. Re-read my thread. I simply state that buying an Rx-8 in preparation towards the FD really doesn't accomplish much. Driving a RWD car with no power to prepare for RWD quirks that enlarge with higher HP is another thing...but driving an Rx8 doesn't prepare me for an FD. Neither does the opposite. It's just a totally irrelivant statement. I've had my FD for 6 months now and have yet to do more than routine maintenance. It all depends on what happens.

Again, the rest of your rant is unrelated to my post you quoted. I never said the Rx8 sucks. Actually, if you search my posts on "Other Cars" at Supraforums I am constantly reminding those that complain about it that its NOT the sports car the 7 was designed to be, and that I like the 8 for what it is: A family sports sedan. Mazda's rotary edition of a 3-series BMW.

Bah, but I shouldn't have to defend myself because I never said the rx8 sucks, hell, i support it despite Mazda's screwups (ONCE AGAIN)!

Holy batshit, boywonder, it wasn't a rant at all, but when you stated...

Sorry, but owning an Rx8 tells you nothing about owning an NA Rotary. It doesn't help you "learn" anything. It's all brand new and packed under a huge plastic cover. How that prepares you for a 10 year old turbo'd rotary machine is beyond me...

...it seemed elitist to me, why wouldn't it, does the power output and age of a vehicle dictate a level of preparation? And why would owning an NA RX-8 not teach you anything about owning an NA rotary? Also an elitist attitude, by not buying a car that was a decade old and maintaining, repairing or modifying the rat **** out of it, this person chose to buy a new rotary powered vehicle, and you are going to tell him he will learn nothing by doing so?

He does it in every single post he makes. It is one of the most annoying things to read. Like YOU CAN TALK! YOU DRIVE A STOCK FD!

You arent doing ONE damn thing more then rx-8 is. At least he is eager to learn (while some of his requests are a little unrealistic) and doesent hate on everybody all the time.

Take a step down off your high horse. The FD was not the greatest car ever built. Stop acting like god himself penned the design of the car, its getting really annoying.

1) I used to left foot brake all the time when I used to race my ek6 through mountain passes. Worked wonders especially agaisnt other RWD cars.

2) The RX-8 is still a new car. You drive it, it has a warranty.

Compared to an FC where you drive it, stop, fix something. Drive it more, drive it, stop tweak something else.

An RX-8 isn't 15 years old.

You're just jelous, you suffer from FD envy, lol.

I can buy any FD I want, I see nothing special in them to be honest with you, I guess no one did when they were being sold otherwise they would still be.

NO. READ CAREFULLY.

I am saying that owning a car as new as the Rx8 which requires NO maintenance because its brand new does not teach you much about opening, working on, and taking care of a rotary. If all you need to do is drive it and change the oil, it doesn't help the OBVIOUS PROBLEMS an old turbo'd FD will give you!

I NEVER ONCE SAID MY CAR ROCKED AND AN Rx8 SUCKS.

FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD GO TO Rx8 DISSCUSSION WHERE I MENTION I AM PONDERING GETTING ONE!

I DO NOT consider myself elite for owning an FD. Matter-of-factly, I've lucked out thus far cause my FD has needed nothing but regular maintenance, so in that I DON'T EVEN CONSIDER MYSELF A ROTARY SPECIALIST. I've read countless hours from the guru's, on things like what stock fuel can handle and junk.

The only thign I can say I did was take apart an FC to drop a new REMAN engine in. So I have touched and dissasembled it all to only put it all back together again.

Goodness. READ people..
