Uplink via cell.. cell sites are on independent backup generators. Also, any buliding that has backup generators, which is more than you probably think. Emergency systems stay online, and phones do too.

Did ya notice how a single problem in NY caused blackouts in Cincinatti? That's the great thing about being on the Western Power Grid (as most of us are).. Cascading blackouts caused by voltage, load and frequency problems won't even make it here. There's a line of AC-DC-AC Conversion Ties that run down the middle of the country, seperating the east grid from the west. Major cascading blackouts will stop there. Same thing for people in Texas, but Texas is actually on a seperate grid from both the east and west grids. Heck, Texas generators don't even run the same frequencies as the rest of the country!

HAHAHA!! FOOLS!! Laptop and dial-up to the rescue!!

There's some kind of fire at the Niagara Falls generating station. It's not just individual cities that are down, everywhere is. Cities are all that matter to CNN, though, plus the fact that they think Toroonto and Ottawa are the only cities in Canada.
