I use royal purple. Its a bit expensive (like 6 or 7 bucks a quart) but I noticed a bit smoother revs and I'm sure it helps out with the longevity in the engine. A lot of guys that I've talked to said that they used the stuff, so I hopped on the expensive boat.

I heard somewhere that Mazda said not to use synthetic because back in the day (i.e. 70s and 80s) synth oil was **** and wouldn't combust in the chambers, but now supposedly its supposed to be better. I dunno about that too much, so I just stick with the bling bling synth oil.

Synthetic is good without cats. I was using it and when i changed the oil i did feel a power increase. honestly.

Napa carries it out here for us. There's also a store called PAW (Performance Auto Warehouse?). Its mainly a muscle car store, but I only need oil from there. That's where I get my goods.

I have been curious as to why it seems like everyone runs 20w50? Is it just me or am I the only one who doesn't run it?

Cuz the manual says to run it at the temp. that I live in. Winter time I run 10-30 since its colder and I don't really need the thicker oil for better cooling properties. That and thicker oil= better protection.
