Ok so maybe it's not as rare as I thought, here is a Miata with a Ford V-8 straight out of a Mustang.

A few years ago I saw a show that advertised a company out in California that could do the V8 conversion on the Miata. They called it The Monster Miata for obvious reasons. They would put in a 350 ci motor that dropped right in with very little modification. They beefed the drivetrain and suspension.



The engine did not add much weight to a car that only weighed....hmmm....let's see.... 6lbs.
