The Official "I actually drove my RX-7 today" thread!

Well, it's true. I actually went out to the garage and fired up the old gal. Noticed that the sticker on her windshield expired this month. Lovely having a car that you pulled the A/C out of that you also MUST drive in August. In my defense, the A/C did not work when I yanked it.
Despite a forecast high temperature of 95 degrees Fahrenheit, I pointed her stylish nose toward the open road and vowed to get her a new sticker. There's a nice little shop in Sandston, VA that has been doing me right for a while now, so I figured that was the place to go. Rolled up a little after 1 pm and the place was wall-to-wall with people waiting to get state inspections. WTF? It's not even halfway through the month. I guess so many people are out of work under the new regime that they figure they might as well get their cars inspected.
I ducked into the coin shop next door to chat with the proprietor and enjoy his air-conditioned shop, since the waiting area for the garage consisted of an old bench along State Route 60. I learned that a 1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent is worth like $1750. and there were only 484,000 of them minted. Also, old people like to talk.
About two hours later, I'm good to go. The mechanic made a comment about how it was easy to fall down into the seat of the RX-7, but not so easy getting back up. I pay him $16. and thank him for his efforts and for not finding anything wrong. He was having a pretty busy afternoon, which is great for him. I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I think the world might be a better place with more small independent business owners, and fewer hedge fund managers.
I enjoyed the ride home. Didn't dog her any, but got into boost a few times. The car still impresses me with the effortless surge. Run the revs up to around 3500, then give her a little more gas and she goes. It must be that I'm driving the minivan too much.

That was a very nice story, and yes the small business man is what built this country.
I did not drive the car today, I had planned on taking it for a short spin after putting its new turbo blanket on, but
it was also in the 90s today- TOO HOT! Shop is closed up today and the ac office and my house felt way too good to leave
but what I did do was:
order a new shift and brake boot along with a center console cover
confirm my custom seat brackets and paid for express service and delivery so I can have them this week
to make a car show Sunday
dragged my black carpet out of the basement and unfolded it at work, was way to hot to clean it- will make someone at work
do it for me tomoroww, lol
so all in all it was sort of a car day!
I had wanted to drive my coupe 2 weeks ago and realized the registration expired in January and the inspection in May

I took my P-port FC to the track, beat it on for 2 hours of full track lapping then about 4 timed laps. I built that motor now about 3 years ago or so, from scraps off the shop floor. Its seen hours of running at 8000-10000 rpm and its still holding on. It has lunched 2 turbo transmission now, they can't handle the 1-2 shift at 10,200, the synchro's just grind off. I need a GXL rear diff for the LSD...
Luckily enough I don't have to line up for inspections, nothing I own would pass any kind of emissions or muffler test.

after an extended stint overseas.. wanted to take her out for a spin after gettin back home .. but rain got in the way..
but after several days of waitin.. managed to get the parts organized to start the motor build for a spare on the other fd..
findin myself searchin the forums lookin for some excuse to attend meets and get this fixation out of the way..
but that wouldnt be enough.. so im gonna try to squeeze in time at the local course but hesitant... since ive grown fearful to risk an off course excursion with the cym..
wishin the other fds.. fcs were still available.. so this places me back on the forums.. craigslist.. what have you to find.. err something..
