Well as we approach Jan.1 I figured I'd take a sec to keep everyone in the loop as to what to expect here at Nopistons.com in 2004. First off in the first quarter we'll have a few changes, most notibly we'll break 10,000 members.
It has come to my attention that at some point in the first quarter we will probably be making a server move. As most of you know in the past this results in minimal downtime and I expect this move to be no different. The reason for it is we will be moving to Red Hat Enterprise server and off of the current version as RH is no longer supporting the free distro. (its complicated, but more or less they aren't). I'd honestly rather not make the move and I may put it off longer then expected. At that time we'll do a slight upgrade on the server, more drive space, more ram, but nothing too exciting. I'll keep everyone updated as a plan gets formulated. Next, in the first quarter as well we'll see a new release of the forum software, 2.0 it should be a big release with lots of little improvements. I won't jump on this one real quick either as a new portal will have to be written and I am pretty happy with wut we have now. Of course we'll have more t-shirts and the sweatshirts will be here in the first part of January. That's about all I can think of off hand. If you have any questions about anything here at Nopistons please feel free to use this topic to ask them. I'll be more then happy to answer what I can. Thanks always for your support! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif |

Because the cp that I use for webhosting only supports RH.
T-shirts are orderable, we have lots of gray and white this time. |
I was going to buy a bunch of white XL T-shirts and send them out with X-mas presents, I didn't know they were available :(
|
They should be here the first week in Jan or so. But you can order them now.
There are a few sweatshirts, but most of them are sold. |
wanted to say thanks for all the work you've done on the forum, Phins, also had a Question. any way to get the newer items in 3XL? (I'd need a 3XL Hoodie and 3XL T-Shirt) I didn't see anything larger than the 2XL and they get kind of tight after a few washes. thanks again for the Great work on the forum.
|
Not now, the sweatshirts were only pre-order, i ordered a handful of XL's.
Last time I got stuck with almost all the 3xl's so I didnt order anymore. I'll see what I can do though, too bad ya didn't let me know sooner :( |
sorry, if not thats ok, but if there's a way to pre order like just one or two that would work so you don't get stuck with them all.
Oh, also no rush. it never gets really cold. just kinda chilly till march or april. so I'm in no rush. |

upgrades = headaches!
look forward to being here again next year, someone has to represent the Aus fraternity. (teach you all that we don't ride kangaroos!) https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png |
We make a lot of jokes but for real, NoPistons is a breath of fresh air to a community that some of us may have over looked. Phins you rock! Thanx for holding it together, and creating an environment that makes people feel welcome to discuss rotors. Even though we can be crude to newbies at times, we keep more than we lose. And some of us even brave distant fronts (rx7club and other forums) to bring new people here who are NOT dipshits. There is a motley group that meets here but this is the highlight of my day. My escape, my release to get away from it all and talk and learn about rotors a little more every day. There is a lot of knowledge, passion, camaraderie and humor floating around here... I am proud to be a part of it.

He's lying he's actually moving the server to Windows 2003 and converting the whole thing to .NET with my help and SOON WE SHALL RULE THE WORLD!
But until that wonderful vision is fufilled excellent job Phins. And just where IS my autographed picture... |
Progeny said they'll be providing support for older RH Linux install for $5/month or
something, also see if anything came out of Fedora Legacy. I don't know anything about either of these though. May want to look into it, I am running Red Hat Linux 7.3 and have no plans to upgrade, but it's pretty easy to keep up with updates if you know what you are doing, I could help if you want. Since earlier RH Enterprise Linux 2.1 is basically the same thing as Red Hat Linux 7.x and they will provide updates for that for another few years at least. |
Yea it's not so much the updates of RH that I am worried about it's the updates on the webhost cp I use, they are actually dropping support and any packages I use for updating are actually written for the cp and not RH itself.
Progeny, might offer the custom scripts, they haven't said yet, we'll see. If I move to RHE I will be changing cp's as I am getting tired of Ensim. Appreciate the offer of help though. |
Holy Crap I have no idea what both of you just said... But Yeah!! RHE Rocks dude!!!
