I think there are maybe, two spots around everywhere I've been where I DON'T get cell service through Verizon. And both spots last about a mile!

As for Nextel, or even Cingular, all my friends with em have choppy service and half of the time I call them the service is "Currently Unavailable" or "Finding the subscriber" or some BS.

Verizon's plan just sucks, service is great here though. Even the whole way down to SC on I 95 it was great

[quote name='Rx7Widow' date='Mar 23 2005, 04:55 AM']Sprint and Nextel are merging. They're going to call the new company Sprint Nextel, or as we at work call it, sprextel. Nextel is also CDMA. iDen is a model of phone, not a network type. GSM is the oldest true digital cell network. Best rate plan is Sprints Fair and Flexible. 35 dollars a month=300 minutes. Over 300 minutes, they charge you $5 and sell you blocks of 100 minutes. However, everything internet-wise on Sprints network is asp based. That means everything you do on the internet is a application you must log into. Most of the time, its fine, but there are login errors that just seem to come up from nowhere. Also, sprint has so many flippin passwords for everything, its ridiculous. Account password, email password, vision password, pictures password, game lobby password...see what I mean? Cingular has one of the best call center hours in the industry: 24-7. They dont advertise their overnight department, but I can assure you they're there. They come in handy when you get off at 2am...

Josh typed this.

That's weird, everywhere I read it says that iDEN is a new type of network comprised mainly of GSM and Motorola being the only company making iDEN phones for Nextel. Sprint and Nextel already merged as is written everytwhere, but won't be interconecting their walkie talkie services for another year.

I'll see if I can find the article.

about loggin in to get your text messages-that's "shortmail" only. Sprint had the great idea that you should have to do it. It was going to be the "future" of cell phones. You get a text, they send you a "notification" saying you have new shortmail, you log in, read your shortmail, send another one out, then wait for your notification of reply. ******* gay, yes, but Sprint has gotten their act together. SMS messaging, which is what everyone else has, is what sprint has moved to. If you still have shortmail, EVERY NEW PHONE SPRINT PUTS OUT IS SMS NOW, INSTEAD OF SHORTMAIL.
