here is what sasser did to me.



monday night went to bed(I leave my pc on 24/7) tuesday morning my computer was magically rebooted, and hung up at the initial test screen. My hard drive dissapeared!! Went into bios, it was gone, and my 1'st boot device(ide-0) was disabled. Did auto detect, found the HD. set boot device to ide0. rebooted cpu worked. 5 min. later got the BSOD, rebooted, same ****, HD was gone!!!



First install the MS patch and reboot.

Then use the tool on that first link I posted.

Follow the directions carefully. You MUST disable system restore, and you MUST disconnect your computer from the internet.

sasser has nothing to do with you opening any files or looking at ****. It gets into your system buy pinging your box, looking for open ports. Specifically 9996, and 445.

9996 is the port most of us use for fxp purposes. so we all got slammed. I think it was sent out by the government !@

the xp patch is in it, and you can get free macafee through that site too as well as the stinger thingy
