start on a small cruiser, like a Yamaha V-star 650 or the one I have, a Shadow 600. Both are great bikes that look and sound great, but are very economic and beginer friendly.
as for the fzr, i'm not a huge fan, no offense, but I don't like the frond end styling, now, a yzf r1/r6, thats a different story, those bikes are SEXY. but too fast for me right now, I'm still learning.
oh I'm 6'2" and 180 lbs and the honda is comfy for me

When I was looking for a new bike, I noticed that the v-star 650 was about the same price as the honda shadow 750 (spirit or ace). And I've seen many smallish women driving the same bike I have, so I know pretty much anyone can handle it. Just food for thought.
oh, but definitely sit on as many bikes as possible. how it fits you makes a HUGE difference in the long run.

I personally am a big fan of smallish sportbikes, I am looking at a cbr600 or something similar, of course right now, with my car dead, my only means of transportation is a 2001 HD fat boy, which is just too big, damn fun, and more torque than the car (not to mention a bigger engine) but a heavy beast that can't corner at any kind of speed (it drags the floorboards)
