OK first off I am a Newb to most things digital. That being said,

Should my new digicam make noise. my brother got one too, by a different manufacturer, and you can only hear the shutter on his. Mine makes some odd buzzing and clicking noises when I first turn it on and when it focuses. I dunno if its normal or not though. Any feedback is welcome though. thanks.

How noisy is it? If it sounds like your car did with the old exhaust, take it back. Most cameras make some sort of noise, so I wouldn't worry about it.

BTW, we bought Katie and Shaun a nice video camera for christmas, so I get to borrow it for all of the RX-7 events from now on.

it will make some noise when you focus and zoom (optical zoom, digital zoom won't make noise), there are motors invovled with manipulating the optics.

some digital cameras will make shutter noises when you take the picture, it depends on the type of camera.

It shouldnt make any inconsistent scary noises, if the noises are reproducable and consistent, then they're probably ok.

is it a Nikon? they make great camera's, but i've noticed the ones i've used...coolpix 995 and 775 make a lot of buzzing and internal shifting noises when turning on and going for focus...guess thats normal.
