I just picked up a 5 horse 20 gallon 110v air compressor, and a sandblaster gun!

I just hooked it up and tested it on part of a rusty subframe on my RX7..

BLAST = CLEAN

It's ridiculous how fun this is. I mean, it comes out so ******* nice looking, and all you do is blast it over a few times. And it makes a cool mess everywhere but WHO CARES!!

I gots me some goggles and a breathing mask, and I'm blasting my whole engine bay Saturday morning, then the painter is coming to paint it around noon on Saturday. THIS IS GONNA BE SWEET!

SWEET!!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

I have alot of experience with air tools and **** at work, but one thing I never got too in-depth with was duty cycles and crap on smaller air compressors, since our shop air compressor is bigger than most FB's.

For how long periods of time should I be running this 110v electric 5 horse? The 20 gallon tank is pretty tiny, so I lose air awful quick then the compressor kicks back on...

What do you think guys?

You were gonna ship him my repu frame too?

Baldy 04-01-2004 09:34 AM

mine is about the same size (22 gallon, I think). Whenever I hear it start pumping, I just stop using it and wait. Gives me a good time to get a drink or something.

ColinRX7 04-01-2004 09:36 AM

Yeah that's what I was thinking, but I'm kicking off the compressor after about 5 minutes of blasting..

I'd play with the pressure regulator for the output line but then I'm compromising how strong the sand blast is going to be.. I've got it on max.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

Try shaving your legs with it..

Shane.Trammell 04-01-2004 09:42 AM

one time i sandblasted with short sleeves. dont ever do that.

75 Repu 04-01-2004 09:42 AM

PIX COLIN!!

ColinRX7 04-01-2004 09:45 AM

I'll have pics of the sandblasted front end then primed front end then painted front end..

Front end as in underneath fenders and engine bay.

So pics later.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

And don't test blast anything without goggles. Sand goes everywhere and probably goes in your eyes.
