Don't let the 4AA batteries scare you. The Z1 has excellent battery life. We've taken about 300 pictures on one charge. We bought a set of rechargable 2300mah NiMH batteries from Fry's (less than $20 incl. charger), they are only about 1/2 gone according to the the little indicator on the camera. The "stock" 16mb card and AA batteries will get you going, but you'll want to upgrade them soon. We got a 256mb card from Fry's the same night for $60 (SanDisk).

There is a full review of the camera at www.imaging-resource.com

No docking station or charger, just a USB cable to download the pics. It all works fine though.

Here's one my wife took of me last weekend while I was changing the front axles on a friends car.

(careful, it's big! ~300K)

Good to hear. Yea one of my concerns is battery life and $$$.

Nice pic! However, since when do you have to drill/cut to change an axle? Was his main bolt locked up or what? I just changed my axle in my Integra and it was pretty easy minus the fact that I needed a air powered torque gun to get a good twist on that main axle end/bolt/thingamabobber...:P

Hehe that's what you do when your socket isn't deep enough. The axle stub was sticking out so far that it could get a hold onto the axle nut. I eventually bought the right part later that day. I actually ended up making three seperate trips for parts/tools... I hate that.

Anyway, the Z1 hadgood performance on some keyt specs for us. One was the 10x zoom, the others were battery life (longer than it's competitors) and shutter reaction time (shorter than it's competitors). That's the time between when you push the button and it records the image (assuming it's prefocused, of course). We also liked that it'll shoot 640x480 video with sound until the card is full.

Another good site for comparing camera specs is www.dpreview.com

We bought the camera from www.newegg.com. With the $80 instant rebate, and free shipping it cost $319. They just released the Z2 (4MP version if the Z1), so I would think the prices will start to come down on the Z1.

Good luck

finally got some pics to my work comp:

I like the close-up function, the older camera never could do that.

Here's me holding a sway bar end link with new bushings in place:

of course the talent of the camera can't be seen here, because the pics look awesome when you can blow them up real big,

and see amazing details

and my method of getting the rear subframe back into the car:

Cool.

Here's a small sample of the pictures we took over the weekend.

Those look nice! We've mostly been using ours just for capturing moments, and cataloging stuff. I haven't really got a chance to

try any artsy stuff, except on my motorcycle, just after I cleaned it (that takes a couple hours https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683454.gif ). And I forgot to put any

bike pics on this cd.

Nice Camera!, I just bought a digi Video cam. 16X optical and a 700X digital zoom. It also takes still pictures, I can't wait to see how they come out.

At a mere 3.6 oz., this versatile digital camera packs a big punch. The all-weather design stands up to wind, rain and just about anything else Mother Nature can dish out for high-quality pictures when you're on the go.

* 7.1-megapixel CCD captures high-resolution images up to 3072 x 2304 pixels

* 3x optical/5x digital/15x total zoom

* 2.5" color LCD monitor with histogram display and auto image rotation

No pics yet, just got it yesterday as a replacement to the Fuji I got last Christmas.
