here's the info foooollsss:

graduate on saturday. go to the beach for a week till the 5th of june. start my new job on the 7th of june.

i have a long commute everday.. like 75-100 mile round trip.. i need to buy a NEW car, or very CLOSE to new car for work...

im looking to spend no more than about $22,000 on a car. i want something good on gas, comfortable, 4 dr. and sporty-ish (whateverrr)

im gonna go testdrive the new Mazda3, the new accord, and whatever else..

suggestions please ? i like phins' new truck a lot, but its a little to hard on gas for me.. i want something like 32 mpg +

Srce 05-25-2004 12:04 AM

Dude, SRT-4.

boxrs4sale 05-25-2004 12:10 AM

oh. no neon. or anything that RESEMBLES a neon. sorry. nice try though

nismo convert 05-25-2004 12:52 AM

ford Fuckass. is very shitty svt is a little better

Caviliers are even worse

Miata not 4 door but get alright milage

GTI or a TDI are awesome or even a N/A Golf/ Jetta

the TDI is what i would go for, like 60mpg and go alright

boxrs4sale 05-25-2004 12:57 AM

yeah, vw diesels get good gas mileage, but vw has a terrible reliability rating.

i need reliable

FDRacing 05-25-2004 01:01 AM

how bout one of those new hybrid things

nismo convert 05-25-2004 01:06 AM

used volvo?

nissan sentra ser has a sweet tranny

KIA?

the vw reliability is getting better, my buddy that works there, said they got the crank bearing problem fixed.

-=RX-7 KID=- 05-25-2004 02:55 AM

venomrx7 05-25-2004 09:11 AM

I 2nd the mazda 6. and the srt-4 is bad ass neon or no neon. Thats what i'm getting for a graduation present https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

treceb 05-25-2004 09:19 AM

how bout a MINI or a mazdaspeed protege. with a run of only 1 year they might be a collectors sort in the future....

or u can get a scion xb

FikseRxSeven 05-25-2004 09:25 AM

vw golf gti r32, mini cooper, mazda 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, v6 tiburon (i like the way they look)

Jims5543 05-25-2004 09:40 AM

You know my answer. I love my Mini I never in my dreams would have thought I would like a FWD car and have fun w/ it.

When I drive nice (which is hard to do in this car) I get 30+ MPG with it.

I have 7K hard miles on it and not a single problem either. Another plus is the fact that Mini does my oil changes for free for 36K miles.

boxrs4sale 05-25-2004 09:55 AM

mini's are really that cool ? huh... im gonna have to go out and drive one now, you have me really curious.. how do they handle.. is the road noise bad ?

i drove the mazda 6, and i liked it, but for the kind i wanted it was easily 25 grand, and if i got one with leather... the premium model was like 27.. i thought was high.. i can get the new accord ex for 22, loaded with a sunroof..

keep in mind the budget is $22,000.

lxk199 05-25-2004 10:04 AM

The only reason VW has a bad reliability rating is because of the window regulator clips and the coil packs. Both of which are under warrany and have yet to fail me on either of my VW's. I have an '03 Jetta 1.8T and an '04 GTI 1.8T, both of which are awesome cars. 28 mpg combined (city/hwy), we got around 31 on the way to Florida in the Jetta this last March. Overall, very good cars.

Edit: Fiske-The R32 is not a GTI. It is a completely different car. 3.2L VR6, 4Motion, 6-speed.

boxrs4sale 05-25-2004 12:22 PM

yeah. well i honestly don't think i want a vw. i really like the gti, and i understand that they may have only had those two problems, but we only have one vw dealer near my house, and they are a shitty dealer.

i am leaning towards imported cars like nissan, honda, mazda (if you call that an import anymore), toyota etc.. not hyndai or kia

phinsup 05-25-2004 12:55 PM

The mini is some sweet ****, I drove it a bit when I was there, definetely a car that drives better then the price would indicate.

The R32 is closer to $32K...I guess over his spending limit https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

I'd also go for the srt-4. Thats one car I'd beat the hell out of...and not feel bad about it. Quick, new, reliable.

defprun 05-25-2004 04:51 PM

Word. Volvo's are super nice. I would get an S-40. Turbo charged. VERY reliable. And the safest car on the road. My folks have had one for 12 years now. It has needed 2 transmissions, and the thing has like 250,000 miles on it now. Has been through everything. Very good cars.

They did make one volvo that was 300hp. I forget what it is called. It might be the S-40?

G'luck.

Or buy a WRX. I dunno how much they cost. I think they look sick as ****.

boxrs4sale 05-25-2004 05:24 PM

i love the new volvo's, but they start at like 25-26

Is this for the base model?

And you know also insurance companies won't make you pay out the ass for a volvo. Cause they are so safe. Man, those things are friggin cherry. They can outrun alot of things on the road. There is some guy on the vintagerotaries forum with a turbo'd volvo that can out run TII's.

defprun 05-25-2004 05:36 PM

mmm, volvo

boxrs4sale 05-25-2004 05:54 PM

i got it.. 2g's over my budget..

although appearance is subjective..

id have to agree with this one..

as far as eriks statement of reliability..

its too early to be able to support such a statement imho..

unless of course one considers manufacturer warranty a factor of reliability..

and in that case... that can be said of any new car...

Eric Happy Meal 05-25-2004 11:19 PM

get a fox dude!!!! my aunts had 350K miles, and didnt have to replace ANYTHING engine related on it! (she lives in the desert as well) theres been several other cases as well.

nismo convert 05-26-2004 12:14 AM

i thought i had said Volvo Dave stop coping me. my buddies mom has one it's the S60 I5 n/a and it did over 220km/h with 4 people in the car.

my dads 88 buick lesabre has over 700000km's original motor and tranny

miltstheman 05-26-2004 01:41 AM

Get last years model 300M. They ought to be cheap enough with the new 300C out (if you can find one). Mileage is only about 27-28 HWY, though. They do have 255hp ya know https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif
