Ha and it's still worth 70K more than we paid less than one year ago.. Hurricaine land isn't soo bad, everyone wants to live here. It's paradise (except the part where I have to work everyday)

I last rented in 1995. The rent was $725 a month. I bought my first house that year. My payment was like $780 a month. Find a way to buy a really cheap house, then bust *** and make it better. You will make out very well in the long run. But whatever you do, buy less house than your realtor tells you you can afford, or you won't have any spare cash, and if the **** hits the fan you are out on the street.
And yes, if you're the one with the big income, do the deal yourself and let her live with you. If she wants to give you some rent money, that's fine.
