So in my search for a new work truck, I have found that there is not one 2wd diesel 3500,4500, or 5500 dodge available in Canada. And none are to be built for 6 months.

So I search the states and find tons of them, so i email US dealers. I find out that as a Canadian I cannot buy a US truck new, they won't send the title to the border for export, due to "franchise agreements". So I ask a few canadian dealers, and chrysler canada if they can get me a US truck, they said they cannot, since they are equipped differently, apparently the only difference is the computer flash for emissions and daytime running lights, there is nothing physically different about the trucks except the primary dash speed overlay is in miles.

The dealers here tell me they will run out of trucks here mid June. Meanwhile the US is drowning in 2008 inventory still....stupid..

Yeah dude, just get someone to buy you one for you, then fill out the import sheet and it should be registered in Canada in your name.

 

I asked them if my sister could buy it, she is a US citizen, they said they cannot sell to her either knowing that she is selling it to me..

I am in the process of looking for used/lease returns presently.

 

That's retarded. I remember when my friend moved down from Canada with his Nissan, he had a hell of a time getting warranty work because his warranty was through "Nissan of Canada" and the warranty didn't "easily" transfer to the US. he did end up getting everything taken care of but it was a pain in the ***.

 

all auto manufactures do this even mazda. if we get a canadian car in the dealer for service we are not allowed to repair under warrenty. infact if we get a canadian car the flippin vin wont come up on ower parts catalogs or emdcs.

 

indeed, they're totally separate corporations, so one isn't going to fix the others without some paper.

 

Yet they share parts pools and depots.. The parts computers are linked internationally, most of what we order here, comes out California when it comes from Mazda.. And with Dodge, its the same, before it goes to Red Deer's distribution center.

I wonder where free trade fits into this, when our dollar was 56 cents US, Americans were lined up at our dealers 10 deep.

 

almost all of our mazda parts at my dealer come from canada, mainly the important stuff that you wouldnt consider 'normal stock'. Stuff like the electronics and other ****, the only close by US warehouse for my dealer only stocks typical **** like interior things and stuff that's known to break.
