I wonder what the taxpayers shell out for a weapon like that? And do the cops really need something like that? Are they ever going to use it in the line of duty? Or do they buy them because they're just oh so cool?

They carry them because of the intimidation factor. Point that at a crack head after you kick in the door with the SWAT team and they're a lot more likely to sit there like good boys, as opposed to if the SWAT team was carrying revolvers.





There are so many guns out there already in the wrong hands, whatever it takes for the guys who have to kick in doors to go home safely day after day is fine with me. Watch some of those SWAT team shows on A&E. It's pretty crazy out there.

They need em just like they needed bigger guns in north hollywood for the bank robbery years ago.. better safe than sorry.. better found than lost too though....
