I lost my 16" silver today. i got him about 6 months ago and he was about 3-4 inches when i got him. i came home from work and he was vertical rather than horizontal. i saw his gils curling and knew he was done for it.

i did a water change last night. 1/3 in a 40 gallon tank. im thinking i did not add enough stress tyme and chorine remover. i was just about to buy him a 100 gallon tank this weekend too.

this is a pic of him when he was small

i couldnt stand to take a pic of him dead but this is what he looked like, just about the same size too.

We had a fish that had been in the family since I was a really young toddler, it was some sort of weatherfish and was really hardy. Everything else in the tanks before had died but it kept on going. Finally one day when I was around 12-13 it jumped out of its tank and committed seppuku. Nice arowana though, aren't those the fish that keep their young in their mouths?

Wow thats a nice aro, sad it died, they are a really cool fish to have, and a rare one at that, Ide get one but i dont have a bigenough tank, a 40 gal is hardly enough in its own, but sorry to hear for the loss, fish are cool, I have many.

yeah the 40 gallon was starting to get too small for him. so i was gonna trade that one in this weekend and get a 100 gallon for 40 bucks more. he got so gib from the start cause i was feeding him feeders, crickets and pellets. but then went strictly to feeders.

when i woke up this morning, it felt really weird looking into the tank and seeing nothing in there. ive also had about 3 algae eaters in his time in that tank, and he killed em all. he was a pretty badass fish. got him for 15 bucks, was maybe worth 100-125 before he died.

Sorry your fish died.

But I gotta be honest, having that thing in my living room would freak me the hell out. That's a freaky-lookin' fish. Where do they live naturally?
