I am going to have to disagree with most people here on getting a cd mp3 player for a portable, I have one, it sucks, the biggest problems are, it is a cd player, which means it is big, it skips if you run with it, and it eats batteries like no tomorrow (spinning motors and whatnot). I highly reccomend solid state mp3 players, small light, relatively durable, no moving parts, no skipping. the Nex II looks pretty cool, I like the 512 meg compact flash cards =)

Where can I get an ipod and can I put music on it without using Mac?

 

apple is suppose to be making a windows version of the Ipod

 

they have made it for windoze, i heard the interface blows though.
