We were having this discussion at work today in my office.

One guy said toyota, one honda, and i said volvo.

what do you guys think?



also curious what the highest recorded mileage is on a stock block?



those were just a few companies that came to my mind when i thought of reliability.

 

i believe the highest recorded original miles was on a dodge, and it was over 500,000 miles.



as for over all reliability ... too many variables play into it, no way to say for sure. But i would take a honda or toyota for reliability.

 

Al Bundy's Dodge had over a million miles on it.

 

I've never had a car that could take nearly as much abuse as my Subaru DL.

 

Statistics show Toyota as far as reliability (not sure if that study is simply based on sales though...).



I would guess Toyota. The Supra can hold 800rwhp+ on stock block! Woot!



But, I've read and heard about Deisel engines going forever. Mercedes @ 800k (NO LIE) was seen in FL by a friend of mine



As far as performance go's, I've never seen much problems with the Mr2's, Celica's (err GT4 is performance! LOL) or the overbuilt Supra

For heavy diesel I would say Volvo and Mercedez.



For passenger vehicles I am going with Yotas

 

i am going strict mileage to money ratio. not hp wise.



my friend told me this his immediate friend in CA had an old volvo wagon that had over 1 million miles on stock block..... lots of other new parts but stock block and i believe stock head.

I'd say Honda.
