Damn my monitor on my new computer went blank, with no signs of life. Worse part is the warranty is over, so i'm sorta screwed now. This is the 3rd monitor in about a year. Although the monitor I am using now I was able to bring back to life after a cleaning. The other monitor was old as dirt so it was no big deal. But this one is brand new, this sucks.

Are they left on all the time or do they have something on top or around them that would make them get hot? I think even a cheapo monitor should last a little longer under normal use. Sucks that they're usually unrepairable

2 of them were 19" Dell's, then this one is a Sony. They are well ventilated and shut off automatically after 20 minutes of idle time. I might see how much i'd get charged to have it repaired, otherwise i'll be getting my office depot employee discount toward another monitor.

Even monitors from the late '80s still work around here.

I have a dead 18" dell LCD here at my office it was about 4 months old. I called Dell to try to get it fixed or replaced and they gave me a hell of a runaround.

I wrote it off and bought another one, a different brand of course.

Yeah i'm deducting points from Dell on this one. They gave me the runaround too. I've had good service in the past from them, but I was a little peeved this time.
