ive got an hpi nitro rs4, it does like 55 mph out of the box and i like it alot :P But it is seriously expensive... when i race it alot during the warmer months i spend like 400 dollars a month on tires :P but i buy super racing slicks that feel like they have glue on them and cost about 40 bucks a set

now go try racing your 7 alot, rc is alot cheaper.. but real cars are alot more fun.

racing is competitive and exciting either way however, so in many ways rc has the advantage, less risky, cheaper, and you can do it indoors in the winter if you go electric...

the other nice thing about rc is the cars have much fewer compromises than real cars, everything is adjustable on a decent rc car, the materials used are ideal in most cases since the scale is so small the cost isnt outrageous to say, make a carbon fiber or titanium chassis. The power:weight ratio is very nice

Tower Hobbies is like the crack dealer of RC... they have more stuff than everyone else and the best deals. My brother and I buy RTR gas and electric kits from them on scratch and dent, then get the parts to fix them and sell them for a profit at local RC shops.

This hobby can easily be a money pit though. I have well over $1500 in it and it piles up quick. There are good outdoor dirt and asphalt tracks around here for racing.
