Someone came into Clubfc3s claiming that they had an LT8 opened up to find it only contained an 8 bit prosessor! Link to thread

Anyone have any info on this? I would sure hate to buy into something like that.

No one has a Microtech? No one cares that their Microtech may have the same prosessing power as the original Nintendo?

So ill post what the topic starter wrote.

sr20man6;

"Microtech specifies there LT8 ECU as a “16 bit Motorola Processor 32 Mhz” so I got a friend who knows about these things to open one up and have a look. Inside there is a Motorola HC711 with the part number sanded off. This mico is the fastest that Motorola make in a PLCC socket package so it can’t be anything else. It is a 8 bit, 4Mhz processor that runs a 16Mhz crystal which divides down to a 4 Mhz bus speed. So in fact the LT8 is only 25% the speed that is claimed on their site, their advertising and literature making it one of the slowest systems on the market.

I presume that the same for their new LT8S, can someone have a look please.

I had a look at the Consumer Guarantees Act www under "Goods must match description"

"If a description is given with the goods it must be accurate. This means, if a refrigerator is described as "automatic defrost" it must defrost automatically, as promised in the description."

So I phoned a friend who is a lawyer. The good news is that there would be grounds for a claim as this is a clear breach. The best course of action is for a group of people to take an action together.

What do other people think?"

So wait..

The microtec prices will make a signifigant drop due to tarnished reputation, and they don't perform any different from when we thought they had a real processor?

Sweet.
