lol, that's kind of what I was getting at, stoopid Americans thinking they OWN the planet, there are numerous stories, or rumors, of people popping up dead because of that attitude. The smart money says walking away keeps you alive.

yea, ive seen some beatdowns of americans when ive been on vacations outside of the country.
People in this country are ridiculous sometimes. Well, the *majority* of people are ridiculous.
i tend not to discuss where im from when im on vacation.

I only had one run-in, and that was that one.
*BUT* I was on the atlantic ocean side, not the caribbean side so i wasnt by the main town. I basically stayed at the resort, no reason to leave though, they had EVERYTHING.
However, on the day we were leaving we were in the lobby waiting for a taxi to bring us on the like 2 hour trip to the airport. Now mind you there is ONE ROAD leading from our hotel, past most of the other hotels and to the airport. ONE ROAD. Ok so there's also only ONE MAJOR TAXI COMPANY. When we were going to the hotel we saw their building and its parking area was overflowing with cars, thats how big they are compared to the other companies.
So we're waiting, and waiting, and waiting. FInally about 2 hours later we find out that the taxi company got pissed off at the government because it is allowing a second *big* taxi company to go to the island and start up business there, obviously competing with and taking profits from the former *only* taxi company.
SO what does the taxi company do? Block up about a 1/2-3/4 mile stretch of this main road. Thereby blocking ALL traffic to and from the airport.
How did this scenario end? Was there a debate, or finger pointing or lawsuits or this or that like there would be in america? HELL NO. The government came in with armored trucks, like 18wheeler sized armored trucks (we saw them ROAR past our hotel) They had like giant brush guards in the front, the type you see on the front of the old locomotives that come to a point for getting downed trees out of the way and ****.
So these trucks were side by side on this little road and BAMMMMMM they drove straight through these taxis flinging them and the people around them everywhere. We drive by in our little taxi a short while later and cars are burning and flipped over and utterly destroyed on the side of the road while police trucks are loading all the taxis onto flatbeds and bringing them to either the police station or the junkyard, or the jungle or whatever.
