while on the subject of tiny fast cars, any of you guys hear of the VW R32 by HPA? Can you say 600 hp in a Golf? German TUV government testing yielded a top speed of 202.6 mph. sweet.
The car weighs sooo much for as small as it is.

Not that I have anything against Mazda... Of course not I drive one and it happens to be my dream car. But the Mazdaspeed Protege is slower than my V6 Tiburon which is stock... And I'm sure that Miata is rated at crank horsepower. It has more potential none-the-less, and is deffinetely an improvement, but in my opinion, it's still nothing to rant over.

The only thing the Miata needed was more power, thats what enthusiasts have wanted in the MX5 since it was introduced.. And I'm pretty sure the protege weighs a little more than a Tibby. I say Hooray for Mazda and I'm grabbing a beer and loading a bowl now Cheers

I've never seen a manufacturer rate power at anything other than the crank or flywheel.

If the Protege can beat 3700 lbs (book listed) + the 300 lbs I had in it, in various items I was helping my parents move to their new house, than it's got me beat.

And yes, that's exactly my point. 178 to the crank isn't amazing horsepower. But I guess you can say I'm more of a performance guy. That's the tuner in me. Deffinetely still a nice little car though.
