As long as we're getting all Theological and ****, the 666 is not Satan's birthday. 666 doesn't even clearly refer to the devil. Let us pray.....
With that said, the devil has had many names throughout Christian and Hebrew mythology, but never "the beast". He's been called the Devil, Lucifer, the MorningStar, the Ancient Enemy, and many others, but never the Beast.
The Mark of the Beast, as it is called, refers more likely to a man that is to come, or is a tyrannical metaphor. In the context set forth, the Beast would need to be related to commerce or politics in some fantastic way to require people to have a mark* prior to participating in any transaction. As there is no mention of the Devil actually being present in the flesh in the End Days, another would have to fill the role of Beast. It is possible that the Beast is a reference to the Anti-Christ, who is seperate and autonymous from the Devil. And since many theologans speculate that the Anti-Christ is not inherently evil, just and instunment of evil forces, the mark of the Anti-Christ, 666, is also not inherently representative of evil, merely representative of a man being used by evil. This theory is also backed up specifically by Revelations, 13:17 "for it is man's number." The moral of the story is, by itself, 666 doesn't mean jack ****.
* A "mark" at the time the Cannons were being assembled would have referred to a tattoo of some kind, which were viewed by early Christians as being Pagan, and therefore universally evil. Others have said that a "mark" could be a brand burned into the skin, and even ore have said that such a commerce related mark in this day and age must be a reference to a microchip implanted into the skin.
Sorry, religious symbolism is one of my favorite areas of study, which is funny, as I'm probably the least Christian person you could ever possibly meet.
"He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666" (Revelations, 13:16-18).
