VB is easy so long as you're changing text in boxes when you press buttons.

It becomes less fun when you start dealing with VB 6's so called OOP properties and threading.

lol woot is an expression, and anyone can do VB :P

Well great then, correct me if i'm wrong but its my impression that Mandrak 9, the one i am getting, is more of a desktop linux then say redhat which is more a server linux, correct? I need to triple boot 98/xp/nix so i'm dloading partition magic. And i already decided to get fluxbox(i think thats it) for the enviorment, its kinda like KDE if i'm not mistaken. It's like 90% of the developers use linux so theres got to be a reason, and being as what i am going into i feel i need to know it.

As far as windows 2k over XP it depends what xp you have. If you run XP at the enterprise level then all that XP bullshit is gone. I happen to have it at the enterprise level, as does anyone who knows me cuz they all beg me for the copy heh, and i like it. I've run, as much as i hate to admit it, every single M$ operating system ever made, including the RC1 release of Windows .NET(it needs work, seriously), and i like XP.

If anyone wants to try RC1 and has a cable line to dload from let me know i'll post my beta tester id/pass.
Up until 7.2/7.3 I would have said MAndrake is more of a desktop version. The recent versions of Red Hat however have came a long way in the desktop area, that is what I am running on all my systems for both server and desktop apps. I still recommend Mandrake for starting out though.

I am running 8.0 on my work box, 7.3 at home and on nopistons.net and the providesite servers are running 7.2

BTW I just got a dual proc HP box, will run Linux or Windows, thing takes a bi to boot, but man is it screaming when it gets up. I run KDE on my work and home box and don't use XWindows on any of my others.

I'm hvaing a problem with my server box, and its not making sense to me.

Heres the deal, my cheap *** uses a pentium 233mhz chip with a AOpen motherboard using award bios as my server box. Well i had taken it apart to clean it all up, dusty, so i added new fans, new hard drive, etc. I put it back together and nothing comes on. Ok powerbox connection on the mobo must be wrong, so i pull both plugs and hit the power on, now it has power to the devices.

Ok, so i put them back on tha board....problem comes back. Now this p-box has split connectors not one big one, so i guess they are backwards. To my suprise they fit BOTH ways....WTF. When both of them are on the board in either spot nothing comes on, if i use just one of them it'll load as long as i don't have the IDE cables for primary/secondary connected, so its my guess the plug thats not on powers that section of the board, my question is WTF is going on with it, i vaugly member having this problem with another pc/box a long time ago and i got it running via just one, but unless only one is on and both ide cables are off the mobo it never comes up on the screen....

ideas?

All the black cables should be in the middle of the connectin. However I have some bad news if you did power the board with them backwards ods are you smoked it.
