contractors just finished my deck in the backyard..
decided to have them cut down the overhead storage area in my garage while they were here.. need the room for the lift... get the floor done.. extend the opener higher and install the lift.. heres a before pic six years ago.. |
as she is after the demo..
|

that overhead area isnt in the exact middle of the garage right? did you have any lift installer come check your garage for proper clearance and positioning?

the pic may not show it but she has over two feet of clearance on each side of the cym in the pic... the height is roughly nineteen feet with length slightly over twenty feet.. which is plenty clearance even with the motor and accessories in place.. just got a ridiculous qoute for coating my flooring... gonna look into floor decking next.. |

neah.. im pickin up a free standing four post the pic may not show it but she has over two feet of clearance on each side of the cym in the pic... the height is roughly nineteen feet with length slightly over twenty feet.. which is plenty clearance even with the motor and accessories in place.. just got a ridiculous qoute for coating my flooring... gonna look into floor decking next.. four post? like an alignment rack, 2 ramps to drive up? arent your cars lowered? we couldnt get an is300, at stock height, with a bumper lip onto our rack. plus those things are no fun to work under unless you have armored elbows...or youre only gonna use it to change oil. 2 posts rock, i dont even enjoy doing brakes on the four post ill go out of my way to put the car on the regular lift. but knowing you im sure you planned it out meticulously lol. i'm still measuring out stuff for my new garage 24'x24'x28' (i believe it is 28' tall, i know its the maximum height allowed in my town and i thinks thats around 28') kevin. |
those 4 post lifts get old pretty fast when you are setting up all the nonsense required to do suspension or brake work
|
no issues for me workin on the suspension and brakes on the floor level if needed to kev...
but im pickin one up with a rolling jack that will allow me to do all that with a four post... very little setup necessary rob.. not anymore than a two post as far as the clearance on the lowered fd... they provide low profile ramps and runways.. main reason for the lift was for space... closest thing to a four car garage for me at this point |
i hated working on cars on the 4 post. Where i was for the escalades or anything that big it is where we had to rack them. Pain in ass to do anything, just to rotate tires i hated.
|
my dads got a 2 post at home. they do come in handy once ina while.

BTW not arguing with you, just giving you insight of someone who deals with a variety of lifts million times a day. kevin. |
the 4 posts are usually only good for storage, or exaust work
|
Better than No Lift!!!!! Especially if you need the storage

..BTW not arguing with you, just giving you insight of someone who deals with a variety of lifts million times a day... yeah four post maybe a bit more work but its easier on the wallet at this point... the concrete slab ive got now isnt thick nor strong enough for anchors on the two posts.. im also hearin possible township regulations this may stir up... the cost and hassles alone is what led me to the four post... need a free standing one enough to provide me with the space.. and the ability to work off my back.. not to mention im not lookin to set up shop... as much as id like to.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/happy.png |

I am going to have a garage buit too and was looking for some ideals for a lift you the man PM me with the contractor you used....
|
if you dont need the parking and dont have a whole lot of money or room you can get one of those portable lifts that slide under the car, town cant bust your balls for permits and variances.
Usually they frown upon lifts in private houses |

Awesome dude! That is really nice. But don't you think it's a lot safer to use cinder blocks and 2-by-4's? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

..Already did 2 oil changes. started insulating the doors... not very pretty but im hoping effective.. insulated doors will be a later upgrade.. this is the cheapest route for now.. |
Get some junk yard rims and weld some 4 inch pipe to equal lengths upright in the center and a flat plate on top. Helps for suspension work.
I am woking in the driveway that I have to use floor jacks for when I cant use Fast fredy's Cat5 shop. So I would take the four post over the old school shade tree set up. |
man of your bling- get new doors
