I'll never own another ford car after the 2005 mustang, truck yes, car hell no. 36,000 miles on it and the interior was falling apart. Vent rings cracked, center console rolling up, all the markings on the buttons were faded or gone, rust on the hood at the very front... how does a 3 year old car have rust?

i dont know what to tell you, I have a superduty and its a great truck.

I can find fault in any vehicle, always something about it I dont like.

My last new Mazda had rust when it was 1 month old on the doors.





I think you would be better off in a full sized light duty truck/suv then a wrangler, the ride in a wrangler gets old fast

As I said, the trucks are a different story, we've had three of them and they have been great, the cars.... not so much. I've had 2 ford cars and they were both junk, one late 90's one 2005.... never again.



Keep in mind we live in an area where cars aren't likely to rust.

one of my friends has an expedition, its our tow vehicle, engine dropped a valve @65k, it gets horrible mileage, and it drops to the single digits with the trailer...



one of my other friends bought an 06 F250 diesel, and that thing is great, mileage WITH the enclosed trailer is better than the expedition without trailer and the truck hauls the trailer around like its not even there. going up the grapevine, it was boosting 20psi, for over an hour, i'm impressed. its a ford though, so when you turn the wheel to lock, it slices the abs wires https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif



my yoga teacher has a lexus rx3 something, and i liked it, i did feel like i should have been listening to 80's madonna or something though... i've driven a lexus sedan, and its the best car i've ever driven, but also the most boring....



oh and just to round this out, dad turned 65 and bought a caddy, SRX i think, hated it! typical GM, it had all the right features, but it just ended up feeling plasticy and tacked together. it got replaced by a volvo v70, which is better, but not by as much as you'd think.

There is nothing in this world that could possess me to own a GM product. They could sell them for cost and I wouldn't buy them, they could sell them with a lifetime warranty and I wouldn't give them my money. GM is dead to me LOL



I've been happy with the Mazda b4000, it tows great for it's size and has been reliable. The Mazda tribute my dad has, has had a few issues. First off the hoses blow off this bitch if you have a "false start" ie you let go of the key before the engine starts. I'm not shitting you this thing will blow every vacuum hose off the intake manifold, this happened twice, then I hose clamped and wire clamped every hose on the thing.



Transmission was noisy and shifted hard very early on, after switching to the Amsoil synthetic tranny fluid that went away 100%



Next was the stupid ass coil pack things the tribute uses. Car was running like ****, finally spit out an error @45K miles. Coil pack on one cylinder was toast. Here's the cool part, they are $65 a piece, there's 6 of them and to replace the back 3 you have to remove the intake manifold COOL!!!



Interior wise the Tribute has held up pretty well, no cracks, rips, tears, etc.... After the stereo went out the 3rd time I put an aftermarket stereo in and that issue was solved.

Fords' trucks in cold climates are terrible.. Their diesels are the worst for trying to start in the cold, especially the 6 litre trucks.. If you don't plug them in below -5C, you are pretty much hooped..That newer 6.4 was a fuel hog, but they finally got some of the injector woes worked out, but then they had piles of Regen problems with the DPF's. The newer 6.7 v8 is getting good fuel mileage , but doesn't deliver near the advertised power.

That all said, the Ford interior is great..

yea my reasons for not owning a GM are the same as 1988RedT2's, like i say, there is nothing they could do to make me look twice at a GM product.

Actually, I have owned my 1985 Chevy C-30 Dooley for over 10 years now. It's a great truck. I'll probably never sell it. But I wouldn't buy a new one.



I was looking through an old Car and Driver in the library/crapper and I read a comparo where they put the SRT-8 up against the Range Rover, Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, and the BMW X5 M. The ultimate winner was the BMW, but the Jeep was cheap in comparison. They loved the drivetrain, hated the cheap interior, bumpy road handling, and steering feel.



Don't know how the used market is for used Porsche Cayenne Turbo S's and BMW X5 M's, but I bet the Jeep is easier to find and a whole lot cheaper.

The porsche cayenne is easy to find in Turbo and S models.. I almost went through with that purchase, I found an 08 turbo with 35000 miles on it in Boston for 42,000.00. Then I started to read about repair costs and maintenance on the cayenne.. Its a really expensive vehicle to own. Some of the more common failure points are pricey to fix. They are known for cracked intake manifolds, lots of coolant leaks, and expensive electronic bits.

The depreciation in value on them is huge to if you buy new.
