Yeah, you used to see Mercedes being driven by doctors and lawyers. Now every poor SOB owns one.

dad leased a couple of the 04-05 E320 CDI's and those are SWEET cars. 0-60 was faster than the gas model, and the diesel gets 40mpg freeway (rated @37). the only real problem was the pricetag, after a 2 year lease they still wanted 55k!

i think in 007 they went to the blu ray, and i don't really know anything about that, but adding fluid + MBZ v6 vs straight 6 = pass....

mom has had a 95 E320 wagon and a 2003 E320 wagon, and the straight 6 kicks the V6's *** every way you care to measure it. power, smoothness etc etc

can't really comment on the BMW vs mercedes, except to say that BMW "engineering" is so suspect that its almost amazing. they bolted the rear suspension right to the trunk floor sheet metal, and got away with it in 1977, but by 1993 the suspensions started falling out, and when they updated the body in 1998, did they fix it? nope.

oh and also bmw's suspension is basically the same from 1977 to about now, and this would be fine if they got it right.... its like if mazda carried the rx3 suspension into the SA/FB and then the FC and the FD and then the Rx8 too!

Yah Chrysler used lots of Mercedes tech in their cars, hell a Crossfire is an SLK, with Mercedes on the engine still even. But there's no way Mercedes took any knowledge away from Chrysler.

There's nothing special about the way they make the minivans, they just haven't rebuilt the factory in a while so their machinery is now 2 or 3 times past it's design life. lol Actually they installed a totally new paint shop a few years ago, about a year before gearing up to make the Jolkswagen version of the van.

There is a story going around that Mercedes took the new aluminum chassis that was in design for the next generation viper and used it themselves for the new gullwing SLS.

They also used Chrysler as a place to unload a ton of pension debt, and I really think that was their whole intention the whole time, just use it as debt vehicle. When I had the sprinters, I can honestly say, MB was giving zero support to the Chrysler dealers in need of support or parts. They couldn't get any kind of answers for the transmission codes , and it took 2 months to get parts out of Germany for it, I doubt MB dealers had to put up with that.

They didn't do Chrysler any favours.

Not sure what I am going to buy now, maybe SRT8 Jeep..

my dad's office landlord bought an AMG SLS gullwing, and didn't like the ride so he bought a regular SLS.

Hmm, thanks for the tips, I guess I could wait out the next gen 2012 srt8 and see what thats about.. Also got told the G wagon I was looking at it is currently twice the price that I should pay for it. ...

I found a mint 77 ramcharger on the west coast for 2500.00, I can get a Cummins 5.9 ISB (325/625) with 6 speed and tranfer case for about 9000.00 here. My old Dodge has the D60 axles front and back.. then add 6" lift and some 38's and I would have an awesome redneck mobile I could cart the family around in.. Then I just have to live with the 70's shitty dodge interior..

all the guys I know who have had the srt8 jeep, and im talking 4 guys, got rid of them. Loved the acceleration and it stopped there.

Even with suspension mods it gets old really fast.

Dont know how the new one will be but the price tag of the new ones is enough to turn me away, $48-$50k, then they have shitty resale to go with that
