Sparta was ruled by a body of elders called Gerousia, two kings and 28 members who were elected for life by the apella, a group of the elite ruling class. Technically a democracy since the kings were barely more than figureheads.



Athens was ruled by two groups, the assembly (elected men), and the council (men chosen by lottery).



Neither were what we know as a democracy today, but since democracy simply means "rule by the people", it's open to interpretation. So both of these are democracies (just barely), and they waged war with each other for quite a long time.

 

England had parliament which was the elected government. That's representative enough for me to call it a democracy. They made tax laws and dealt with common law and crap. Plus the king had given up most of his powers by the Amercian Revolution, and I think that the prime minister was around by this time.

 

Hitler was elected Prime Minister, and everyone loved him, so that's good enough to call him a democratic leader. And then he took over everything and had a dictatorship, but everyone loved him, so it was a democracy. Same thing with current day China.

Glorify? The media/motion picture industry glorify it. The video gaming industry glorifies it.



The NRA does not "glorify" gun ownership. The NRA advocates the responsible use of firearms by adults. The NRA is strongly in favor of stiffer penalties for crimes committed with a firearm.



If you want to blame someone for the culture of violence in this country, blame the liberal politicians who would rather villify the gun instead of the criminal. Blame the liberal judges who grant lenient sentences and parole to violent criminals. Blame the liberal liberals who would embrace a convicted murderer and attribute the crime to the gun. Do we see a pattern here...?

The feminazi organization on campus, had a meeting last week, in which they decided to promote small fire arm ownership by female college students. The NRA was involved and agreed this was a good idea. Of course in reality land this is a stupid idea, because:

A. you must be 21 to purchase a small fire arm

B. You must be 21 to attain a concealed weapons permit, and have to go through a course

C. You are not allowed to carry any weapon on campus



So for female college students who are 21, have gone through the course and recieved their concealed weapons permit, have purchased their weapon, who will not be travelling on to campus at any time, it is a good idea. Once again a retarded idea by the feminazi.



I agree with redt2, the NRA isn't the problem.
