The Fat Lady Has Sung

A small news item from Tracy, Calif., caught my eye last week. Local station CBS 13 reported: “Tracy residents will now have to pay every time they call 911 for a medical emergency. But there are a couple of options. Residents can pay a $48 voluntary fee for the year, which allows them to call 911 as many times as necessary. Or there’s the option of not signing up for the annual fee. Instead they will be charged $300 if they make a call for help.”

I love gov't logic, one of the few things I would actually be willing to pay a tax for and they want me to pay for it separately. They better watch the **** out of joe six pack is going to start to wonder where the **** his tax money does go if it doesn't go to things like... i dunno 911.
I'm willing to pay a local tax for fire dept, emergency ambulance service etc.... I'm sure all the city officials got a raise this year, or at least no one was laid off, but they want the citizens to pick up the 911 because it's the one thing most people feel they need, you sure as **** wouldn't get them to pony up extra funds so the city council can have new desks and computers. Could you imagine that? A voluntary tax to buy new desks and computers so city council can provide you better services? What scares me is people might even pay for that.
