The laser is set to where the little star is. It will cover a 90+ degrees because the lens is convex. Works kind of like a brighter barcode reader.

I've seen the commercial the damn thing only costs like $20, it's got to be something simple. To be honest I hadn't given it much thought until you mentioned it.

you sure? that picture doesnt make ny sense to me. cause in the commercial it shows the pointer, and it traces the line as it goes around the corner, and the pointer is a little to the right of the end of the pic, it would be further off.
