Laser Discs LOL
#1
I wasjust browsing some used cd site and I saw laserdiscs for sale, I had forgotten that ****. I remember renting the player and the giant discs from the video store, you know back when the video store was a local joint and you didn't own a player you just rented them, i think the laserdisc player was like 2 bucks more and you had to flip it, ******* awesome.

Hey! I remember those.
We had an awesome local chain in the video rental biz. He sold out and started an ISP back in like 1995. I had my dial-up through them for years. RCN bought him out a few years later. I suspect he's a rather wealthy guy. The company name was Erol's.

LD was fun. My dad bought one of the first HeNe gas laser units in the early '80s. It had an external audio CX decoder box (this is before dolby digital and DTS). Then he got a more modern infrared diode laser one that could also play CDs in the mid '80s. We watched movies all the time. LD was way more convenient than VHS, looked tons better, and there was no rewinding. Having used a record player before, flipping LDs was no biggie.

Dayummmm, the laser disc was the ****!
We owned the player and had four gargantuan speakers to go with it...first movie we ever bought for it was Twister and then Independance Day...possibly the two best movies ever created. I sold the laser disc player, and all 28 discs that we had about two years ago...to a cute guy...for $20... With that $20, I went out and bought both Twister AND Independence Day on DVD...haha...<3 The Laser Disc
