Labels for rx-7
#1
I'm a little confused as to what some of the labels for RX-7 represent. For example, I thought Efini was just a maker of aftermarket parts for RX-7's, but I read somewhere else that RX-7's were sold under the Efini label in Japan. I don't understand. Also I thought the only RX-7 with the Savana title was the 1st gen, but I also read somewhere else that the 2nd gen was called Savana. Thanks

i think, not 100% sure. series 1,2,3 and 4 were sold under the savana badge, series 5 under infini and 3rd gens under efini. i think it was something like what honda, toyota and nissan do here in the states with acura, lexus and infinity, respectively.

Infini is the not quite like Acura, infinity etc.. in that they are another company. Infini is more like the top of the line rx-7 luxury model like the GXL is the top of the line NA offering in options here.
And Savanna is to Mazda, what Mercury is to Ford. Kind of a subsidiary, I guess. All the 2nd gens were produced under this name in Japan.
