Five Bethlehem police officers used excessive force to restrain a man high on crack cocaine who killed a drug dealer with a samurai sword and set him on fire, a federal jury ruled Tuesday night.

I read a book a little while ago that said when some idiot jury pulls this stunt the city has to pay the full legal fees of the other attorneys.

If they had passed an innocent verdict it would cost the city nothing, this way costs them hundreds of thousands of dollars.

And some people complain when cops shoot somebody. Dead people can't sue, or lie on the witness stand.

His lawyers will get, $0.33.

It's their family that sues, the nypd is learning that one right now.

True, but in the above case, the 'victim' was the only one who said anything bad about the police. All the other witnesses said they did nothing wrong.

I'm not sure what constitutes excessive force when you're trying to "restrain a man high on crack cocaine who killed a drug dealer with a samurai sword and set him on fire. Seems to me that anything up to and including a reasonable number of bullets, oh say around 50, would be perfectly justified under those circumstances.

yeah i mean i dont know about you, but since when is someone armed and gregarious? occasionally you run into an amish minister packing an uzi....
