That was big in the late 60's early 70's, alot of cars were advertised at

lower horsepower then they actually were, sometimes over 100hp.

I guess it kept the competition from making a higher hp motor?

It also kept the safety freaks from crying too much.

It is highly unlikly that there will be a turbo renisis due to emmissions, not to mention relibilty. When the next rx7 comes out mazda will increase the power by increasing the rotor diamater to 10mm. This has the potential of making between 280 and 300 HP.



Something i wanna know is why the automatic loses 45hp yet it's called like the "sporty auto shift" or something....nothing sporty about a 45hp loss now is there?


As for the 45 hp loss, it was because mazda couldn't find a torque converter that could handle the high redline (they kept blowing up). The only difference is that the redline is limited on the auto. Thus the power loss.
