So I've been taking advanced aircraft systems and we've been going through engines in depth. Today the topic of turbochargers and superchargers came up, and then the rotary engine someone came up in the topic. I can't express how much I get angered with this class when the instructor can't explain turbo's properly or starts making up crap about the rotary engine. He drew a picture of a rotary engine on the board, the rotor had 4 points. He then explained the rx8 has a new design in which the points of the rotors are beveled more, which makes them more reliable...somehow. The rotary engine also only has 1 moving part and a toggle to release the oil from the pan. I finally couldn't take it anymore and said I'd bring in an engine and explain to the class how it works.

 

Are you going to do show and tell?

 

Make sure you use an image of yer head for the rotor.

As soon as I walk up there with my housing and rotor, I set them down and take my shirt off and continue like nothing is abnormal.
