I keep hearing on the news and in news articles them calling the people affected by katrina as ******* refugees. Man these reporters are really getting stupid. The definition of a refugee is , as found in our dictionary
refˇuˇgee (NOUN):
One who flees in search of refuge, as in times of war, political oppression, or religious persecution.
or
Refugee
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Power lines leading to a trash dump hover just overhead in El Carpio, a Nicaraguan refugee camp in Costa RicaA refugee is a person seeking refuge (or asylum) in another country in order to escape persecution. Those who seek refugee status are sometimes known as asylum seekers and the practice of accepting such refugees is that of offering political asylum. The most common asylum claims are based upon political and religious grounds. The term has also been used to describe those fleeing the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, however they do not meet this definition.
Under the 1951 Convention on Refugees and 1967 Protocol, a nation must grant asylum to refugees and cannot forcibly return a refugee to their nation of origin. However, many nations routinely ignore this treaty. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is dedicated to protecting the rights and wellbeing of refugees. As of 31 December 2004, the agency reported a total of 9,236,500 official refugees (excluding an additional 4 million Palestinian refugees) [1].
Globally, about 16 countries (Australia, Benin, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Canada, Chile, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States [2]) regularly accept quota refugees from places such as refugee camps. Usually these are people who have escaped war. In recent years, most quota refugees have come from Iran and Iraq, which have been in various wars and revolutions, and the former Yugoslavia, due to the Yugoslav wars.
I was reading this article on 1o1owins and they keep referring to them as refugees. There still in the same country you retards

Just the way the Media puts these lables on people for more drama.
I could be totally wrong on this but. 95 degree weather or not I would be walking to the nearest bank, get a temporary debit card and hit the first car rental place/motel/airport and get the eff out.
I understand most are of the welfare type and said we live paycheck by paycheck etc. but hell walk out of town. But you know I might just want to take a free helicopter ride.

The media lately be biggin **** up to get more ratings. Like when they have a homicide bomber. The intent of the "suicide bomber" is not to kill himself but to kill others and in the process is killing himself as a resultant of his acts. So technically he is a HOMICIDE BOMBER rather than a SUICIDE BOMBER
******* media they suck hairy nutz

At least ACT like a refugee.. walk to wherever in a large group.
Hell.. Tell them they need to seek refuge in Mexico, I'd love to see American "refugee's" jumping the fence into Mexico.
Mexico would be like WTF? what do we do about illegal aliens?

The "as in....." in your definition is to give examples. That's not to say that those are the only ways to be defined as a refugee, or that you have to go to a different country to fit the description.
