last night at work, someone sent a chain letter out to everyone at cingulars gobal list (hundereds of thousands of employees) then the people taht got it sent a return email to everyone saying "please take me off the list" in return that email got sent to everyone again on the list. Jsut about everyone did that so in a matter of a few minutes tehre was like 400 emails sent to each person

If hundreds of thousands of people get an email, then those hundreds of thousands of people send another email to the same hundreds of thousands of people followed by another email from and to the same hundreds of thousands of people, shouldn't there end up being hundreds of millions of emails going to each person?

well if 200,000 each get 1 email, then each send 1 email, etc etc, technically millions of emails are being sent but each individual only receives 1 copy.
so if EVERYONE that got the mail (say 200,000 people) did the "take me off your list thing" CC'd to everyone then each person would have 200,000 mails in the inbox, 1 from each person saying "take me off the list"
