I don't think an all-metal one would work to well. If you look at a fan when you fold and unfold it, the fabric bends and folds. And all metal one would have to have some super-spring-loaded base to let each stem to flex outward, the distance of the width of the flat metal. But I don't know, maybe I'm just full of crap.
