hey dave you can now compare the two cars. the rx8 is fe right after the fd, fc, fb

JM1FE17N9401#####
Deconstructing this using RX-7 conventions would yield:
JM1 = Mazda
FE = RX-8 chassis code
17 = body style (whatever you'd call the 8)
N = misc ID field (perhaps N for North America?)
9 = check digit
4 = model year code
0 = Plant Code (Hiroshima = 0)
100xxx = serial number

Hey everybody, I'm an RX8 owner! 
I can't wait to see one at a lapping day so I can own it there. If any show up to the drag strip when I get around to going to one, I'll be able to own them there too. Maybe on some back roads up in the mountains I can own some there as well. The same goes for autocross events as well. So, everybody, please don't hate me for owning an RX8.
