That i drive an rx7. Was driving yesterday and alt. decided to take a ****. Was able to get back home and decided to try and drive to autozone today and get new one. Got within half a mile and because of the damn traffic and retards that wont go batt went all the way out. So walked rest of way bought the lightest batt they had put it in. Then drove to autozone to order the alt which should have been all i needed and $200.00 later find out they have to order it. Going to be 2 days now, so im without a car and not sure how ill make it back there again to get it...

That is one of the things i hate about owning a 7. I have had nothing but bad luck trying to find parts. When i do they have to order them or the person is an idiot and thinks it is a truck. I also hate exhaust leaks that i have come to accept for the time being.

ive been stuck i think 5 times since 94?

once was in 95, battery took a crap, i drove the car anyways, and it didnt restart....

once was in 96-97ish starter wire fell off the starter (the little one), i have a burn on my wrist from the beehive oil cooler, cause i reached down and plugged it in, and drove home

next one was in 97-98, same car, cheap aftermarket rebuilt starter died, again

next one was 98-99, ran the gsl-se out of gas... oops

i got stuck several times with the e11 haltech, but i'm gonna count that as one, just because.

Hmmm. That got me to thinking. As little as I drive the T2, it's had a right front blowout in the left lane of I-64 during rush hour, and a dead alternator, leading to a dead battery, leading to a dead car driving home one Friday night from the dragstrip. Do these cars come with a curse as part of the standard equipment?

oh well ive had nearly 20 rx's in almost 15years, and some of them have been really big piles of crap (i had one 84 gs that i drove for 20,000miles, and had a grand total of $250 in the car...), and most of the time ive been stuck its either my fault, or an aftermarket reman part...

and you cant say that for many other car makes

yea my mostly stock n/a doesnt get many "weird" problems, working in a shop ive seen cars with a lot worse common problems then an alternator failing.

that being said most of the time buying a rebuilt aftermarket part off the shelf at a parts store is iffy because its probably been sitting around for a while.

but yea my t2 had weird **** fail, mostly due to tinkering.

id rather own a 7 then a focus, thats for sure. those things have the WORST common problems, such as the springs simply breaking.... for NO reason.

I blew the coolant hose from the rear iron the the TB in 98.

Then I found this site & started fixing things before they broke.

Didn't ever have to tow the 7 again until that Dodge Ram van pulled out in front of me. BAM - totaled FUBAR.
