Call me ungreatful, call me whatever you want but i'm tiredof fixing and refixing my stupid car. Car alarm and keyless are going to cost more because i don't have power locks stock. My car alarm goes off everytime i open my door without putting the key in, no matter what i do. I had a coolant leak right after i got the car, well its leaking again from the same friggin spot. I still have to get the stupid thing realigned. The car creaks and rattles. Haven't had a stereo and putting one in had to be postponed because the car is up on jackstands right now. I have a tranny leak somewhere. Car has a bunch of tiny paint chips and dings that only i notice but they drive me nuts. Need to find a new BOV now. I've got new tires, but they're all-seasons, so i cant really justify replacing them since theyre new and when i have to its gonna cost me a bunch to get something decent. My flywheel seems way too heavy and is really awkward. I've tried getting used to it but it doesnt feel right at all, and it was replaced when the new engine was put in also so i dunno if its stock or what. And i know all this stuff is minor but its all these little things that are driving me nuts, little things that keep popping up. And i specifically paid more for my car so i wouldn't have to deal with this ****, but here it is anyways. I could have a 91 300zx TT right now with under 100k miles in almost exact condition and i know its not a rotary but at the same time i know it wouldnt be giving me these little gaynesses left and right. I guess the biggest thing that bugs me is how much i paid for it and the fact i'm still getting little problems.

how much did you pay for it??

no matter how much you pay for a 1989 car, it will still be a 14 year old

car. If it sat in a garage and wasnt driven it would still have its share

of problems once you started to drive it again

its those stupid little things that make a older car annoying, make

a list and start fixing things and get that car the way you want it.

5600 for it, and 600 on shipping. And the thing about older cars, even if you fix the stuff, it still wont be fixed. For isntance my friend who completely restored his 71 SS Chevelle has to fix something every few weeks as he discovers something that has gone wrong.

So the mechanic ****** leaves town with my $2,000. My car parked in front of the shop in an Industrial plex for three weeks and my new and old motor is in his mini storage.I tow it to Dallas, sat there for two years fucked the paint. Mechanic cant get the mother ****** to go past 5lbs of boost.dude says he checked everything. I get my sunburnt dry rotted car with $5,000 of new bolt ons.I gotta drive this embarrasment to Arlington to a guy who says he can fix it.(he does)but I had to get a plane ticket home from there(I expected to drive my car home after I got it from Dallas....didnt think it would be that bad!) 1st dude says it was my RC enlarged secondaries flooding so a traded a drag racer those for his set of stock secondaries(another ******* there).BUT>>the guy in Arlington said your good to go.So I fly out there. He says here your big *** bill$$$$$ Oh by the way your Dragon muffler is closed inside with a metal plate thats why it runs like **** and you you had to drive 50 mph all the way here. They ****** forgot to cut the last section out!!So I drive back to New Orleans with a big *** exhaust in the bitch seat. The motor leaks two weaks later, all my rubber **** is dry rot.I spend jack on the new paint. MY twins go to ****. I pull out the never used Cartech turbo system and its made for the 1st gen! Damn it!! ****** thing sat on the attic for two years. Cut and fab the manifold to fit ...it leaks exhaust worse than night of drinkin and eating a case of Kastle burgers.

My exhaust has blown all the gacket at each section, the loudest right under the passenger seat(which comes in through shift handle) and smokes out everthing because my Turbo seal went out a month ago cause the God damn HKS sequential was mounted with a too small universal pipe outlet. I AM MOSQUITO CONTROLE with a flare of obnoxious noise. My IC air to water pump went out to days ago.the drive way looks like an oil recovery pit. I'd swear this thing is ******* me to death and draing my pocket at the same time!! I need to be In a FD3s 12 step program.

now you know why some people buy new cars every few years.

I prefer my gf to have a new car for reason that I dont feel

like fixing a damm thing on it.

it gets about 3-4 years old, and we get another one.

No tires, one set of brake pads, no tune up, you get the idea.

Desire is the cause of all suffering.

I find joy in making a creaky old car into a purpose built beast, and I think that is a reasonable path to take with a second gen RX-7. I think you should sell the Turbo II and get that 300zx TT.

You can fix it and stop it from doing most of that stuff but it requires and extreme amount of dedication. Belive it or not I've done it to a VW bug (air cooled) before. It includes fun things like rewiring massive parts of the car, using devcon putty to seal up parts, welding bits of metal in to keep things from squeeking, filing things down and spending many hours doing all sorts of things like that.

I personally don't mind it if I:

1> Have the Money to do it

2> Have another car to drive around while doing it

3> Have a nice place to do it in.

A lot of it is just sitting back and deciding that "YES I WILL DO THIS RIGHT!" and then doing it and not going half assed on anything like every last one of us on this board does.

If ya find it to be too annoying tho, I'd get rid of it. It's not worth the frustration otherwise. Like my dad's 67 bus. I'm glad that "car" is gone.

Heh, yeah i guess that really puts it into perspective. This is my first car i've really had to work on and i suppose that its just the buying and selling bug. I know i could sell the z32 for more than i'd buy it for, and i bet i could get more out of my RX-7, but at the same time the second my seven left my driveway i know i'd be kicking myself in the head and would never find one like it again.
