What do u guys think about these cars? im pretty sure its a 86-88ish i will find out tommorrow for sure. Its a z28 black on tan T-tops, clean body, auto im not sure on the hp cuz i don't know the engine model yet. The guy wants 1200 obo, he been trying to sell it for months it used to be 3k. I plan on using it as a daily driver. One of my best friends also has an 86 iroc with 4k in engine mods and i have helped him with his car, so i do have relative experience with this car....

Rob x-7 11-12-2002 05:33 PM

I had a blast with my Trans Am, they are a bit underpowered with a 305, but you can swap in a good small block one day for endless horsepower, they handle great as well. Reliable like you wouldnt believe, and parts are dirt cheap and easily availible. Here is my small block conversion in mine, notice the wires for all the computer/emissions crap in the upper left corner of the engine bay, I never even got to rip them out.

90_GTU_jeremy 11-12-2002 05:35 PM

yeah and im sure the are way easier to work on than a rotary...

Its always nice when your car shares parts with a few hundred thousand others, lol.

Turbo II 11-12-2002 05:42 PM

IROC are ******* cool. i am one who supports american cars. that aint a bad price for one either. from 3k to that. its worth the project

1Revvin7 11-12-2002 06:23 PM

yeah my buddies had never broke down, the parts are cheap and easy to find for him and it handles awesome, better than my 7!!!! well he does have super hard shocks and 245 in the rear, i got my shot shocks and 205s https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/blackeye.gif not for long though i thinks its all out race time for the 7.... plus these look and sound awesome.

1Revvin7 11-12-2002 06:51 PM

Well its an 87 with either 170 or 190hp. i think it wieghs 3600lbs too. Im going totally opposite from my 7 here. I do want to do the basic mods just for fun on it, besides its a little under powered... anyone know of some camaro or chevy forums?

SpecialT 11-12-2002 07:03 PM

Baaaahh!

Get the Trans AM!!

Black, with the giant gold firebird on the hood!

save the money for ur 7

1Revvin7 11-12-2002 07:26 PM

I need to get around. ahah i was looking @ parts for it, i can get flowmasters catback $70.00 and i heard a sound clip damn it sounds tight!!!

1Revvin7 11-12-2002 07:34 PM

i might just have torque in my life. im keep the fingers crossed, if the insurance is cheap and my dad comes though with a cople hundred bones im all good.

Rob x-7 11-12-2002 07:50 PM

You could just get liability insurance on it, no full coverage. A good thing to do to it would be to track down a 3.43 rear and swap that in for starters. I had a 3"exaust and I had the Edelbrock headers on mine, they are some quality headers, I had the air tubes cut and welded over though. They do sound nice with a Flowmaster muffler on it.

1Revvin7 11-12-2002 09:53 PM

ahah! i get the best of both worlds! I have always liked these cars anyhow.

90_GTU_jeremy 11-12-2002 10:00 PM

just cuz you drive an american car your not a redneck... ive always wanted a camaro... i still do. nothing sounds better than a smallblock chevy with an exhaust jut sitting and idling. yeah a rx-7 sonds great at 8k rpm's but you got to work for that sound lol... v8's got it right at idle.. you can scare away civics without touching the gas

if you want the late 80's or early 90's body style camaro you are most definitely a redneck! I never said anything about american cars in general...

Rob x-7 11-13-2002 06:11 AM

Versus all those FCs with the peeling paint I guess.

Or the FDs on thier 2nd motor or the 1st motor and a prayer!

By the way I have never seen a late 80s camaro or any year camaro actually that had the original paint peeling, unlike the ton of factory recalled FCs with thier peeling paint.

yeah thats what the body shop tolded me when i had them paint my car, that the factory primer was **** and lead to paint problems with FCs.

Travisty 11-13-2002 08:38 AM

personally i think that model car is one of the ugliest cars ever made.

but they can be fast and very reliable

i agree with the sound of the v8... i just says stay the **** away from me or i will rape you. which is also why its fun to race them and kick their ass.

i say go for it man.

its a great deal.

and best of luck with it

a rotary would burnout flowmasters VERY FAST!

I've seen lots with the original peeling paint... most are that green teal color, but that was when I was living in California. Now I see lots with peeling paint and confederate flags with people you really woudln't want to come w/in 100 yards of driving them. You know the type. The one's who think it's okay to marry their sister's daughter. The kinds with one tooth. YEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAWWWWWWWWW!!!!

Now I'm not saying anything about the cars merit. I'm sure they are extremely reliable and what not. One of my friends had one and I drove him around in it because he tore his ACL and boy was it fun! i brought along my cowboy hat and talked **** to lots of civics in my redneck voice. It was an early 90's RS and slow as piss! haha I think it ran 16's. If anything don't get the camaro, get the foxbody...

1Revvin7 11-13-2002 04:49 PM

well i decided against it. 1 it was too damn slow, even with 500 dollars in mods. 2) it had a 140k miles on it and it loses oil pressure after a couple hours of driving, and most importantly i don't have the money for insurance since they want it up front. And this money was going towards my rex's motor so, looks like its still gonna get that cash.

bigtime 11-13-2002 04:56 PM

good.

Thank you for clearing that up for him since I havent had the chance to come on here since this morning.

And yes, I meant a good/worked small block, just like I typed.

I know what a small block is thanks!

And by the way we dont have redneck mullet people in NY, we have some left over guidos, but no rednecks.
